About me...

For the last 20 years or so I was co-owner and director of Sounds Good, which started out as a cassette duplication company manufacturing for bands, artists and some major independent labels, including chart hits for Oasis, The Smiths, The Sundays, The Levellers, Carter USM, Edwyn Collins, Elastica, KLF, Placido Domingo, Leslie Garrett, Divine Comedy, The Orb, the list goes on....

I got involved in CD manufacturing back in 1992, when we started to offer it as a service to our customers. The following year, 1993, we pioneered the concept of low-cost, but high quality, CD Mastering when we bought one of the first SADiE digital editing systems.

Since then I've mastered hundreds of CDs, experienced and enjoyed heaps of different types of music, upgraded the gear, and had a great time.

Now I've gone solo, I can concentrate on the things I like doing best - working with musicians on mastering their projects through to CD or download.

Some things I like doing when not in the studio:

• playing funky bass with The Fever 45s
• playing fingerstyle acoustic guitar in open tunings
• collecting cheap art
• trekking with Linda in the Nepal Himalayas
• acting in amateur dramatics (speciality: dead vicars)
• going to the gym
• reading pretentious books (used copy of Foucault's Pendulum available).

I'm not DJ Riton...

Google me and you'll probably get DJ Riton - a talented guy whose real name happens to be Henry Smithson. But he's not me. And I'm not him.
